On a Roll: Contemporary Interpretations of the Paper Scroll
29 August - 7 September

On a Roll pushes boundaries, as artists reimagine the scroll in bold new styles and inventive forms.
This exhibition showcases the current work of the members of Papermakers and Artists Queensland, using paper as their primary medium to create new expressions of the traditional scroll. Expanding horizons, artists twist paper scrolls beyond expected shapes and stories. They fold, spool, and alter scrolls, pushing paper to its creative edge.
On a Roll will explore how contemporary artists use scrolls to encode layers of meaning, inviting viewers to look beyond the visible and discover the secrets embedded within. The tactile nature of paper, combined with the meditative act of unrolling, will create an intimate interaction between the viewer and the artwork.
